Nairy Baghramian is the guest of the 2018 Autumn Festival in Paris. 

 

Nairy Baghramian's work puts the history of sculpture into perspective, draws on and plays on the contingencies of the institutional context and borrows some of its references from the fields of architecture, design or entertainment.

 

Nairy Baghramian jostles the boundaries between positive and negative forms, sculpture and mold, between apparent strength of the masses and sensuality of forms, sometimes underlined by subtle chromatic play.

 

Maintainers is the title of a new series in which large castings made of cast aluminum are associated with monolithic blocks in colored wax. This title refers in particular to the method of assembly obtained by adding intermediate parts varnished lacquer. Arranged against each other, these elements form a complex set within which interdependence, opposition and resonance relations are organized.
