From Friday 19th to Sunday 21st of October 2018, FIAC presents a three day conference programme, entitled Conversation Room, which takes place within the fair, in a dedicated space on the first floor to the right of the grand Escalier d’honneur, Grand Palais.

Within the framework of the action of the association Time for the Oceans, Marion Semblat, its president, proposes an examination of the relationships between art and environment, with a specific focus on Arctic issues.

Actively involved this year in the theme for the Carmignac Prize for photojournalism, Time for the Oceans invites several speakers to debate: the director of the Carmignac foundation, Charles Carmignac, will present the work of the two 2018 prizewinners who undertook an extensive tour of the Arctic this year, recording the extent of the ecological disaster of the cold seas in images; the artist Tarek Atoui, composer and expert in sound environments will discuss the sounds and impressions inherent to this cold-sea environment; Jean Jouzel, an internationally renowned climatologist and former GIEC expert, will provide a scientific analysis and speak of the necessity of mobilizing politicians, scientists and the civil society to defend the future of the “white planet”; the novelist Christophe Ono-dit- Biot will discuss the responsibility of artists in raising public awareness.
