damian ortega en el palácio das artes

exposicion colectiva
Oporto, Portugal

The exhibition started from an invitation to twelve national and international artists that will present works specifically produced for this project throughout the Palácio, Absence is the leitmotiv behind the research for the project. Particularly, the concept of presence within absence through the suggestion of spaces where life is present but only sensed in material objects or traces left by human life.

It is impossible to separate notions of death, absence and memory and this is what the invited artists were asked to look upon and produce from. The connection between the international contemporary art scenario and the Porto context becomes essential, since for many of the artists it is the first time that they have visited and been influenced by the day to day of this city.

People grasp for eternity through memory, since it is the most valid way of being remembered. But the greatest anguish in life is exactly the one referred in the title of this exhibition, – all the moments one has, disappear, Like Tears in Rain -taken from Ridley Scott’s cult movie Blade Runner-.

SEACEX gives her support to this Project through the participation of the Spanish artists Carlos Garaicoa e Isabel Rocamora.
