Based on art historical references Baghramian’s exhibition reflects the interdependency between the work of art and the institution framing it subsequent to the idea of 'Institutional critique’.

For x-rummet at SMK, Baghramian highlights the nexus of the omnipresent grid which was the formerly landmark of the exhibition space at the Renaissance Society of Chicago curated for forty years by Susanne Ghez. For x-rummet at SMK, Baghramian has casted a vast, sculptural version in milky, semi-transparent shapes balanced on tall, shiny legs.

X-rummet is SMK’s platform for contemporary art where international artists are invited to show new works created especially for this space.
