The exhibition polyphon brings together works by six artists represented in the Viehof Collection: Thomas Houseago, Kimsooja, Danh Vo, Marijke van Warmerdam, Corinne Wasmuht, and David Zink Vi. Differing significantly in their working approaches, themes, and media, the artistic positions encompass painting, sculpture, installation as well as film and video. The exhibition interrelates these independent voices and showcases what the artists have in common: a polyphonic way of thinking and a coming together of cultures and ideas, providing perspective in a global world. Serving as points of departure for the exhibition are the artists' works, many of which were acquired for the collection at an early stage in the artists' careers. These are supplemented by current works, some created specially for this exhibition.

Migration informs the work of many of the participating artists in a variety of ways, even in terms their own personal histories. The work presented in the exhibition, We the People by Danh Vo, who fled Vietnam with his parents and grew up in Denmark, was created between 2011 and 2014 and is one of his best-known works. The fragmentary reconstruction of the copper shell of the Statue of Liberty in New York—on a 1:1 scale—consists of roughly 300 fragments scattered in collections around the world, including the Viehof Collection.
