abraham cruzvillegas and bárbara foulkes - autorreconstrucción: insistir, insistir, insistir

Autorreconstrucción: insistir, insistir, insistir is a collaboration between Abraham Cruzvillegas and Bárbara Foulkes that incorporates sculpture and dance through a series of choreographic actions, linked to gravity, suspension and movement. The choreography of the piece is designed in such a way that the body, through its strength, interacts with a hanging structure composed of various everyday objects. Simultaneously, accompanying the performance, an exercise of musical improvisation takes place by Andrés García Nestitla. The work will be activated seven times throughout the period of the exhibition, between July and October, allowing each presentation to be different due to the relationships built in real time between dancer, music and sculpture.

Together, the exhibition space, equipped with a dance floor and the ever-present sculptural structure, is transformed into a stage, venue for practices, educational activities, workshops and guest presentations from Morelos and other states. This public program - elaborated in collaboration with Abraham Cruzvillegas, Haru Heshiki, Bárbara Foulkes and the curatorial and educational areas of La Tallera - assumes the museum as an open space for experiences and uses beyond exhibitions.

The performance brings together elements of the practices of Cruzvillegas and Foulkes. Self-reconstruction: insist, insist, insist has previously been presented in La Pista (Mexico City, 2017), The Kitchen (New York, 2018) and Art Basel (Miami, 2018). The activation of the museum as a living space has been proposed by Cruzvillegas at MUCA Campus (Mexico City, 2018) and The Contemporary (Austin, 2019), among others.
