VENUS VICTORIA by Sarah Lucas is the inaugural commission for the New Museum’s public plaza. Lucas was selected by an all-artist jury comprised of Teresita Fernández, Joan Jonas, Julie Mehretu, Cindy Sherman, and Kiki Smith, and is the first of five recipients over 10 years who will be selected by a rotating jury. VENUS VICTORIA will be on view for two years in a new outdoor plaza on Bowery at the New Museum.
