exhibition | bárbara sánchez-kane: coro de soles menores

CHERUBY will launch its physical space with Coro de Soles Menores (Chorus of the Minor Suns), the first solo exhibition in Asia by Mexico City–based artist and designer Bárbara Sánchez-Kane, who is also CHERUBY’s inaugural artist-in-residence.

Sánchez-Kane ridicules the aesthetics of authority while reshaping what it means to create from the body and reclaiming clothing as an emotional and political language. He moves fluidly between mediums with works spanning fashion, paintings, sculptures, performances and spatial interventions. Coro de Soles Menores investigates the body’s relationship to the circulation and domination of power through research into volcanic phenomena.

The exhibition marks his first participation in a residency program, following two months of experimentation with new materials and responses to a new environment.

CHERUBY is an arts and culture enterprise founded by Cherry Xu. Dedicated to fostering creative production at the intersection of art and fashion.
